Hi!

Apptronik, A leading Humanoid Developer has begun a pilot program with Mercedes Benz:

  • Apollo, who will enter their assembly line, is 5-foot-8 (taller than the writer) weighs 160 pounds, and can lift up to 55 pounds.

  • They plan to utilize Apollo for tasks like transporting parts to the line and inspecting components.

  • The partnership with Mercedes-Benz is part of a bigger trend where human-shaped robots (we call them humanoids here 🙂) are being integrated into operations at major companies, including BMW and Amazon.

  • learn and replicate human actions through the use of vision-based neural networks, by watching videos

    • Also if you are wondering what a neural net is we will have a longer breakdown in next week’s letter but simply put

    • "a method…that teaches computers to process data in a way that is inspired by the human brain” per AWS

-Because robots like these are in human form, they can learn directly by watching humans naturally do their jobs, which will rapidly enhance their capabilities. (A big reason this technology is a huge leap forward)
